MTER is a 4-week program that teaches introductory mindfulness & emotion regulation skills to people living with mental health challenges.

About this Event

Mindfulness Training for Emotional Resilience (MTER) is a 4 week program that teaches introductory mindfulness and emotion regulation skills to people struggling with mental health challenges (or anyone who has found it challenging to develop a regular mindfulness/meditation practice).

With an emphasis on brief meditation practices, psycho-education and trauma awareness, participants will learn tools to help regulate difficult emotions, develop a feeling of safety in their body, and use mindfulness to engage in daily life.

What you will learn:

Week 1

  • Intro to Mindfulness
  • Grounding Techniques
  • 3 Minute Breathing Space Meditation
  • Emotion Regulation for Trauma
  • Bringing Mindfulness into Daily Life

Week 2

  • Mindfulness and the Brain
  • How to Meditate
  • Meditation of Breath
  • Neuroplasticity and Neuroscience of Mindfulness

Week 3

  • Mindfulness of Emotions
  • The Emotions Wheel
  • Sitting with Pleasant/Unpleasant/Neutral Emotions
  • Meditation on Working with Emotions in the Body

Week 4

  • Creating an Action Plan for Mindfulness in Daily Life
  • Balancing Stress with Nourishing Activities
  • Self-Compassion Meditation

You will be given information handouts as well as mindfulness and meditation exercises to practice between each class.
