Event description

Description

The 2017 Mississauga Garden Festival is a pilot project, the first year of a collaboration between two of Mississauga’s garden clubs: Applewood and Cloverleaf. Inspired by Buffalo’s Garden Walk and its impact on city-wide community development through a focus on gardening, we hope to grow our Festival into a Mississauga-wide celebration of gardening and gardens, private and public. The 2017 Mississauga Garden Festival will be comprised of two complementary events: a traditional paid garden tour of private gardens in the Rattray Marsh area and a bonus, free “festival” at the Bradley museum.

The 10 gardens on the paid garden tour, mostly owner designed and maintained, reflect the area's natural habitat and its gardening challenges-- deer, coyotes and great blue herons. Variety is a highlight: a historic house; a garden with a whimsical Asian theme; another featuring exotic vegetables. There are peaceful hidden sanctuaries with century trees; a glorious waterfall; pergolas and walkways. All the gardens are within a short walk of the two public entrances to Rattray Marsh. TICKETS $20.00

Festival will go on, rain or shine. Dress for the weather...we recommend a hat, sunscreen and comfortable shoes. No dogs allowed in the gardens.

Bring your EVENTBRITE VOUCHER to our headquarters at Bradley Museum from 9:30 am on Sunday, July 9th to exchange it for a numbered printed ticket with maps of all of the gardens on the tour. Then join us for the festival at Bradley, which is free to the public, and includes speakers, tours of Bradley's heritage garden, a garden marketplace, food vendors and more.
