Event description

Description

Date: Saturday March 3, 2018
Time: 1-4pm

Make a multi-media painting of your own!

Join Karen Scarlett as she takes you through an introduction to work in this fun and free manner.

The Mixed Media Sampler will introduce you to a variety of products/media that you can test and try. Create sampler boards to see if this is the type of art you would like to work in. Learn about layering watercolour, acrylic and oil paints. Layer drawings using paper and tissue. Try other products such as gel, liquid and pouring mediums.

Instructor Bio:

Karen Scarlett is a western landscape artist. She often has multiple items in the works and considers herself a multi-disciplinary artist. Karen’s current favourites are fibre and painting, especially the mixed media work she is immersed in presently.

My favourite subject to paint are the prairies of Alberta. The fields surrounding the farm where I grew up are a continued source of inspiration & are ingrained in my mind. Even without pictures for resources I can still see the fields west of Innisfail and more importantly I can smell the fresh cut of the harvest.

Sampler Classes are designed for anyone wanting to try out different mediums before investing in workshops and supplies. Classes are 3 hours long and all supplies are included. We begin with a brief demo and discussion of various techniques. Participants will then experiment and create their own masterpiece. If you want to try a something new or have never painted before, or even if you already have a favorite medium, sampler classes are a great way to expand your artistic horizons.
