About this event

Mobility, Migration and Education: Self-Making as Middle-Class Dalit Women

Dr. Sugandha Nagpal, Assistant Professor, Jindal School of International Affairs, O.P. Jindal Global University

Date and Time: July 7th, 2021. 11:00am - 12:15pm

This talk will discuss the interactions of Punjabi Dalit women with migration and education in the Doaba region of Punjab. These young women have mobility imaginaries tied to migration and government employment. Given the uncertainty of these mobility outcomes and continuing immobilities, young Dalit women draw on education as source of status and distinction to carve middle class identities.
