AGAT Laboratories brings to you our Montney Formation Field School! Come join us for one day adventure on a bus tour in partnership with Dr. Jon Noad examining Montney Formation Analogues with multiple stops exploring the various outcrops of the Lower Triassic period.

Located throughout Alberta and into British Columbia, the Montney Formation hosts vast reserves of unconventional natural gas, oil, and natural gas liquids. Estimated to contain approximately 449 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, it is said to be one of the largest natural gas resources in the world. The AGAT field school tour will take you to through these ancient formations and discuss the significance and history of each of our 6 stops throughout the base of the Rockies.

About Dr. Jon Noad: After graduating from Imperial College, London in 1985, Jon began working as a mining geologist in South Africa. He returned to Europe in 1990 to survey submarine cable routes, and completed a Masters in Sedimentology at night school. This was followed by a full time PhD. based in eastern Borneo, after which he joined Shell, taking on various production and Middle Eastern exploration roles. He moved to Calgary in 2006 and has worked as Senior Geologist and Exploration Manager for several Canadian and Colombia based oil companies. He currently runs SediMental Services, offering consulting and geological training, focusing on field trips. In his spare time Jon likes running, wildlife photography, travel and hot curries.
