Description

Climb higher in your faith and daily ministry! Be a part of this two-day event in Winnipeg where you will engage in interactive lessons and meaningful discussions about being the men that God has called us to be.

The theme for this year's men's workshop is "Mountain Men: From Distraction to Devotion". Do you find that the distractions of this life have made you missionally ineffective in God's kingdom? Join us at the inaugural Mountain Men workshop on October 26-27, 2018, and learn to identify and eliminate distractions and to grow in our devotion to God!

Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god. (Psalm 24:3-4 NIV)

WORKSHOP OVERVIEW

Mountain Men is the annual men's workshop hosted by the Central church of Christ in Winnipeg, Manitoba, with the inaugural session being held on October 26 and 27, 2018. It is an initiative conceived by our congregation's Men's Ministry in order to fill a need to create a venue where participants from various congregations of the Lord's church can come together to discuss pertinent matters of faith and spiritual growth relevant to Christian men. This annual event is called "Mountain Men", which is derived from Psalm 24:3-4 "Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god."

WHO CAN ATTEND

Men and boys aged thirteen years and above. Participants 13 to 17 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Fathers are encouraged to bring their sons to the event. Of course, everyone is encouraged to bring their friends, neighbours, and co-workers as well!

WHAT TO EXPECT

LESSONS. There will be three interactive lessons that are relevant to our lives today as men. We will be relying heavily on the Bible to shed light on our theme and to ascertain God's will in our lives. This year, our theme is "Mountain Men: From Distraction to Devotion". We will identify and understand distractions including entertainment, hobbies, work, pornography, technology, and social media. Most of these distractions are not inherently bad until they interfere with our spiritual growth and service in God's kingdom. We will learn to take on proper Christian perspectives on these matters so we can move on uninhibited in our devotion to God!

DISCUSSIONS AND ACTIVITIES. The intent for this men's workshop is to engage participants in group discussions and activities where individuals will be placed in groups for improved collaboration and participation. The workshop facilitator will introduce the practical lessons from the Bible and will guide the group discussions and activities.Participants will be divided into groups of up to eight members to encourage discussion and sharing of ideas. Each participant has his own unique set of experiences that enables him to impart knowledge and insight as we learn from God's word. Each group activity is designed to promote learning in community as we highlight the major points of the lessons.

MEALS. All meals and refreshments at the church building (workshop venue) will be included in the registration fee. A soup and buns supper will be served on Friday evening, and on Saturday, a light breakfast and a delicious lunch will be served.

WORSHIP AND PRAYER. We will worship in song before each lesson, and prayer time will be allotted at the end of the lessons within each group.

BILLETING

Do you live outside of the Winnipeg area? No problem! Please indicate your accommodation requirements when you register online. We will do our best to place you in one of our members' homes for the Friday night of the workshop, as well as for Saturday night, if needed.
