Move, Sing, Play ... Improvise! Creating Music with Young Children
This workshop will focus on 2 aspects of being an early childhood music educator: musical skills and how to craft exercises to suit young children. We will move to music, play with balls and percussion instruments, sing and create together. Material for all musical elements, suitable for youngsters from 18 months - elementary, will be covered. Explore improvisation and its role in crafting exciting music activities for your students. Musicians and non-musicians alike will learn how to create gestures, rhythms, melodies and even piano accompaniments that you can use in your classroom tomorrow! The clinician for this workshop is Leslie Purcell Upchurch, BFA, M.Mus., a Dalcroze specialist who teaches both young children and pre-professional musicians in New York.
