Advancing Active Games Workshop

This two hour, free workshop has been designed for recreation, activity and health care professionals working in residential, adult day centres and home care settings, who want to further develop the types of active games they offer in an effort to promote movement through recreation, with their residents and clients.

This training is for any recreation and health professional who wants to...

  • Introduction to the benefits of a well structured, goal directed active games program that involves motor, cognitive and sensory engagement.

  • Provides a tool to evaluate the current approach to designing or facilitating active games and a method to advance active games even further from a functional, social and sensory perspective.

  • Take-away three advanced active games that can be implemented immediately with residents and clients.

The concepts taught in this workshop promote health through movement and draw upon the principles of physical literacy and restorative care.

Workshop Facilitator:

This workshop is faciltiated by Nicole Bergman, MA, CTRS. Nicole is a Recreation Therapist who has spent over 13 years working in the area of aging, health and wellness. Nicole's passion is improving the quality of life and overall health of adults and older adults by promoting health through movement.

Nicole consults and develops workshops, courses and resources for health professionals and organizations, so they have the knowledge and tools to further inspire their clients to lead physically active lifestyles.
