About this event
The Ottawa debut recital of the extraordinarily gifted Prize Laureate of the 2018 Honens International Piano Competition.
Nicolas Namoradze, piano
A recital pairing masterworks by J. S. Bach and Alexander Scriabin with six of Nicolas Namoradze’s own études, described by Oscar-winning composer John Corigliano as "some of the most innovative and dynamic works of this century", each inspired by a specific technical, pianistic challenge that serves as a basis for the textures and figurations, such as careening scales in "Major Scales", rapid chordal passages in "Mostly Triads", or layered voicing in "Threads".
Program
Alexander Scriabin: Sonata No. 9 Op. 68
J. S. Bach: Sinfonia No. 9 BWV 795
J. S. Bach: Partita No. 6 BWV 830
Nicolas Namoradze: Études I-VI
Alexander Scriabin: Eight Etudes Op. 42
Alexander Scriabin: Sonata No. 4 Op. 30
With support from the Honens Festival.
