MSEA

MSEA, also known as Maria-Carmela, is a Reykjavik based sound artist, vocalist and composer. Originally from Sudbury/Toronto, Canada, MSEA lives in a sound world of her own where she explores the boundaries between beauty and discomfort. Her voice is an ever changing instrument, floating in the midst of soundscape and noise, leading the compositions with fragility and subtlety. There is an element of cut and paste as she adventures into a synthesis of improvisation and structure. Sometimes performing solo and sometimes with a small orchestra, MSEA aims to build a collaborative performance that is different every time. Her EP "Hiding Under Things" was released on April 18th and has caught the attention of many in Iceland, this will be her first Toronto performance since 2017.
