Event description
Two days of hands-on point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) training by some of Canada’s top experts in ultrasound education.

About this Event

A new Eastern Canada point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) conference held at the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal, Québec on November 9-10, 2019. Hosted by the McGill Ultrasound Interest Group, this inter-university training event will bring together residents and students from across the region for two days of POCUS education by some of the top instructors in Canada.

We understand how expensive POCUS courses are for trainees and want to offer excellent training at an affordable price and so are running the event at cost. Our goal is to foster inter-university collaboration and knowledge transfer while offering participants the chance to meet and learn from the professionals that are advancing POCUS in Canada.

We will have a 3:1 instructor ratio with all scans performed on standardized patients. All instructors are IP certified. Advanced stream will include interventional US simulators for hands-on practice performing ultrasound-guided procedures. Each day will be packed-full of direct ultrasound training with complementary didactic lectures and a plenary talk at lunch.

Stream I: Core – knobology, lung, AAA, sub-xiphoid, IVC, renal, pelvis, eFAST

Stream II: Advanced – dvt, gall bladder, ocular, advanced cardiac, MSK, nerve blocks, IV access, ultrasound-guided procedures (thoracocentesis, paracentesis, LP)
