About this event
Presented By: Vancouver Public Library
Eight poets read their prize-winning work in this award ceremony for the 2020 Muriel's Journey Poetry Prize. This is loud, edgy, socially engaged poetry in celebration of the poet, activist and actor Muriel Marjorie who passed away in 2018. Muriel was well known in the Downtown Eastside and other places in Canada, through her involvement in the Heart of the City Festival and other events. The entry fee for the poetry prize was not money but a demonstration of how the poet contributes to the community. For more information about the prize, please see https://www.facebook.com/murielsjourney/
MC: Cecily Nicholson
This poetry reading will feature winners Jade Wallace, Henry Doyle, Sho Tanaka and Sally Quoin, as well as runners-up Captain Snowdon, Angie Conrad, Jane Harris and Dominique Panko.
Also present will be the poets and judges Diane Wood, Elee Kraljii-Gardiner, and Alan Hill
Hosted by poets Isabella Mori, founder of Muriel's Journey Poetry Prize, and Kyle Hawke, who designed and published "Fire From The Heart," the chapbook for Muriel's Journey Poetry Prize.
