Event description
A folksy, bluesy concert with West Coast songstress & seaqueen Sarah Osborne, and her dream-weaving Eastern Ontario pals, Moonfruits.

About this Event

Sarah Osborne and Moonfruits met on a blizzardy evening in Ottawa at a basement house concert – and it was love at first song. Since then, the trio have forged a beautiful musical friendship. Their bond is centred on showing each other new places, sharing their truths, delicious meals and songs, of course.

We're excited to be making our Bancroft début during our Changing Leaves Mini Tour - join us at The Muse Gallery & Café Thursday, September 19th!

Sarah Osborne Music is part singer-songwriter, part marine biologist. Her music is what happens when art and science meet and have a dance. Emulating nature and channeling the heart, Sarah draws inspiration from the family musicians, blues, and broadway musicals she grew up on. With a blending of genres she resembles all at once a modern day Janis and a lady Johnny Cash, with a hint of Billie Holiday. Her new EP She Rows (2019) was produced by uncle Neil Osborne, and is an ode to jazz, lovers, and the sea.

Fronted by partners Alex Millaire and Kaitlin Milroy, Ottawa-based Moonfruits are makers of art-folk bilingue. In a forest of banjo, guitar, kalimba and glockenspiel, their voices burrow and soar. Here is a reverie, tender and powerful, beckoning listeners to elevate the stuff of everyday life. SOCAN, Trille Or and Stingray Rising Star award winners Moonfruits have toured Canada coast to coast, moving audiences with a live show that mixes French and English organically, playfully, intentionally. Their début full-length Ste-Quequepart (2017) \saint-kehk-pahr or Saint Somewhere\ is an elaborate small town fiction that explores the faces of gentrification, isolation and community. The duo released a live studio version of “Seven Billion” on May Day 2019 and is currently writing for two forthcoming recording projects.
