About this event

Learn some of the stories that make the lands at Fort Calgary a historically layered and meaningful site. Explore museum exhibits about Treaty 7, Métis influence in Alberta and the founding and early stages of the city of Calgary. Check out the replica 1888 Barracks for special exhibitions, then take a self-guided audio tour of the parklands at the confluence of the Bow and Elbow rivers — a place of significance to Indigenous peoples since long before 1875, when the North West Mounted Police established Fort Calgary.

Tickets can no longer be purchased on Eventbrite, and instead can be found here.

Welcome to Fort Calgary

The confluence of the Bow and Elbow Rivers has been a historical and cultural gathering place for time immemorial. From its origins as Mohkinsstsis (Blackfoot), Wîchîspa (Nakoda), Guts’ists’i (Tsuut’ina), and Otôskwanihk (Michif/Cree), to its more recent history, Fort Calgary has a complex story to tell.

Fort Calgary is operated by the Fort Calgary Preservation Society. Fort Calgary preserves, protects, enhances and promotes the significance of the site for the benefit of the citizens and visitors to the city of Calgary.
