Event description

Description

Take in the aw-inspiring sights of the towering beech and sugar maple giants while joining local mushroom enthusiast Inga Hinnerichsen on an educational mushroom walk through LPBLT's Jackson - Gunn Old Growth Forest. We will be looking at the various types of fungi that can flourish in the undergrowth and learning about
the differences between them.

Inga grew up in Finland where her father, an avid naturalist, taught her the scientific names of plants and mushrooms they saw. It was from that that her fascination for fungi grew.

Jackson-Gunn Old Growth Forest is located near Houghton Centre, mid-way between Port Burwell and Long Point in the southwest part of Norfolk County. Access to the property is on the south side of Lower Sideroad, mid-way between Regional Road 28 and Concession 4. Parking for the event will be along the southern side of Lower Sideroad.
