About the artist

It is almost impossible to exaggerate about Stephen Hough. Pianist, composer, writer, painter, teacher. Winner of awards both musical and other: the Deutsche Schallplattenpreis, Diapason d’Or, eight Gramophone Magazine Awards, a MacArthur Fellowship (called the “genius” award), the Royal Philharmonic Society Award, and in 2014, Commander of the Order of the British Empire. Mr. Hough resides in London where he is a visiting professor at the Royal Academy of Music; he also teaches at his alma mater, the Royal Northern College in Manchester, and at The Juilliard School. A pianist in top form, not just technically but in ways that make you experience afresh the transformative nature of music.

Safety Policies and Procedures

The TELUS Centre, including Koerner Hall and our other concert venues, has the following procedures in place for anyone entering the building:

  • The Royal Conservatory requires proof of full vaccination by approved COVID-19 vaccines, along with a photo ID for entrance into the building and all theatres. As defined by Toronto Public Health, currently individuals are considered fully vaccinated once they have received the second dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine series (e.g., Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca) and where 14 days have passed since their final dose.
  • There is no assigned seating for master classes. In accordance with guidelines from Ontario Public Health, seating does not have to be physically distanced when audience members are fully vaccinated and masked. However, where possible, an extra seat should be left between groups.
  • Mandatory masks everywhere in the building, including during concerts and master classes.
  • Hand sanitizer is provided at every entrance/exit, and key locations throughout the building.

All attendees of this event must review The Royal Conservatory’s Proof of Vaccination Policy and Building Access Procedures and agree to abide by them while onsite. A pre-screening questionnaire will be sent to all attendees on the day of the event via Envoy, and must be completed in advance. Upon your arrival at RCM, please enter through the Bloor Street Box Office Doors where Security will confirm your Envoy approval, and verify your proof of vaccination.
