Looking to mix politics with popcorn and plenty of laughs?
Join Samara Canada and Regent Park Film Festival on April 20th in celebration of National Canadian Film Day! Now in its third year, this national event aims to spark discussions about Canadian identity and culture. What better way to fuel the conversation than through a fun and satirical look at our political system and leaders?
Told from the perspective of an independent MP and his young Haitian protégé, My Internship in Canada ("Guibord s'en va-t-en guerre") is a lighthearted story about coming to Canada and figuring out how our political process works. The film is in French with English subtitles. For more about the film, watch the trailer or read a synopsis.
Following the screening, Buzzfeed Canada’s Elamin Abdelmahmoud will sit down with Algoma-Manitoulin MPP Michael Mantha and emerging filmmaker Amita Zamaan to explore some of the uniquely Canadian issues and experiences portrayed in the film.
Doors open at 6:00 PM and the screening begins at 6:30 PM. Admission is free.
We recommend guests arrive 30 minutes ahead of the screening, as seating will only be guaranteed for ticket-holders until 15 minutes before the start of the screening.
Limited seating will become available 15 minutes prior to the screening (at 6:15 PM) on a first-come, first-serve basis.
