Description
With an expansive career that covers department stores, high-end boutiques, and classrooms, Iris Simpson is an important thread in the fabric of Toronto fashion and culture.
Join Iris for a chat that reflects on her career and experiences as a buyer and a stylist, ranging from Eaton’s, Holt Renfrew, and Yves Saint Laurent at Hazelton Lanes, to the role as an educator at Ryerson University, and to her latest fashion venture, Hello Couture.
Department Stories: An Evening with Iris Simpson is part of, Discounted Histories: Retail History and Trade Networks in Toronto, a month-long exhibition presented by Myseum of Toronto that takes place during the month of November.
Discounted Histories explores the movement of goods, services, and ideas that have formed Toronto’s retail landscape, long before Confederation. Rooted in the physical geography of waterways that connected hundreds of nations through trade routes, and spanning a time of rapidly evolving technology, from specialized artisans to mass production, and mail-order catalogues to online shopping; Discounted Histories reassesses part of Toronto’s existing historical narrative, by bringing to light overlooked, unseen, and forgotten histories.
To find out more about the Discounted Histories exhibition and the variety of programs and exhibits happening during the month of November visit the Myseum website.
