About this event
Often with wild poetics, mystical theologians including Augustine, Evagrius Ponticus, Hildegard of Bingen, Marguerite Porete, Meister Eckhart, Simone Weil and Thomas Merton explore the strangeness of God’s presence in relation to self-presence, and to “decreation.” We read the primary works of these theologians, and art created in response to their theologies.
About the Instructor: Dr. Alyda Faber, Associate Professor of Systematic Theology and Ethics at AST, earned a BA in English and French Literature (University of Guelph); an MA in English and Creative Writing (University of New Brunswick); a BTh (McGill University); an MDiv (United Theological College); and a PhD in Theology and Ethics (McGill). She is an Adjunct of the Faculty of Graduate Studies at Dalhousie University, and an Associate Editor of the Dalhousie Review. Her research interests include forms of theological writing; poetics; literature, film, and theology; violence and theological ethics.
