Event description
Paper Covers Rock is a new annual readers and writers festival on Salt Spring Island, BC, taking place October 1-3, 2021

About this event

No question, the landscape for writers of theatre and plays has changed.  We all hope for the curtain to go back up so we can safely meet live, but in the meantime there is a proliferation of new opportunities and new writing formats we can explore.

Join Natalie Meisner for this fun, hands on workshop to create your own short play for audio/ podcast / digital / or other new formats. Start your playwriting engines. This workshop will combine a discussion of key topics in contemporary dramatic writing with focused live creative exercises to help you sharpen an existing idea… or invent a new one.

Topics included:

-Uses of Form:  traditional, experimental and everything in between

-Using nonfiction or “truthy” material in plays

-Dramatic writing in pandemic times

Come ready to connect with other writers, share ideas and roll up your sleeves and write.
