About this event
December 6th marks the anniversary of the murder of 14 women at the l'École Polytechnique de Montréal in 1989. Following this event, Canada established December 6th as the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women, a day to reflect and take action against gender-based violence.
We invite the SFU community to join us to an in person memorial about the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women, and the impacts of gender-based violence.
Dr. Angela Brooks-Wilson, the new SFU Dean for the Faculty of Science is going to join the memorial and share a reflection about the path to equity in STEM.
Tuesday, December 6, 2022, 12:30pm-1:30pm, Student Union Building Ballroom, Burnaby Campus.
Memorial Displays will be happening at the Vancouver Campus (Harbour Centre Lobby) and Surrey Campus, (SRYC Mezzanine)
Keynote speaker:
Angela Brooks-Wilson was most recently the associate vice-president Research, pro tem, since 2020.
