Saturday/Sunday - February 18-19 - 9:00-5:00pm
Saturday/Sunday - February 25-26 - 9:00-5:00pm
The National Lifeguard Instructor course trains Instructors to teach and evaluate NL programs to include:
• NL Pool
• NL Waterpark
• NL Waterfront
• NL Surf
In addition to providing NL programming for the public, NL Instructors also act as mentors to new lifeguard staff and provide leadership in staff inservice training.
The NL Instructor course is a Branch run program and candidates must register with the Branch office at least three weeks in advance as there are pre-course assignments.
Process to Attain Certification
To attain certification as a National Lifeguard Instructor, Instructors must:
• Present the necessary prerequisites.
• Attend 100% of the NL Instructor course.
• Successfully meet all the Level 3 Competencies.
• Complete the required apprenticeships within (2) years of the course end date.
• Instructors will receive a certification card upon successful completion and approval of their Instructor Training Package.
Pre-requisites
• NL Pool Option (current)
• Airway Management and Oxygen Administration
• NL Pool Option recertified at least once
• Lifesaving Instructor (current) + 2020 Bronze Medals Update
• Taught a minimum of two Bronze courses (at least one Bronze Cross/Assistant Lifeguard)
