This national conference will provide a snapshot on the state and spread of "Canada's worst invasive plant", Phragmites australis, and it's impacts on species at risk, habitats, communities, and infrastructure across Canada. This event will emphasis information sharing on national and regional approaches to Phragmites management and will provide opportunities to network with people across Canada's provinces and territories. This event aims to connect provinces and territories to share key information and inform national and regional approaches to address this invasive species and protect our natural environments in the face of a changing climate.
Topics to be addressed during the National Phragmites Conference include:
- Updates on the impacts of Phragmites from across Canada
- Discussions of management tools, including herbicide application, bio-controls, and 'cutting to drown' techniques
