About this Event

About this Event

"The impacts social isolation and loneliness have during this pandemic are a great concern to us, a concern we believe many Canadians shared, and we would like to explore potential creative solutions to the problem.

This Walk and Talk event is design to raise awareness of social isolation's mental and physical effects, de-stigmatize loneliness, empower others to speak out, and engage the community through storytelling and the day will be concluded with an online ceremony on on October 24th. We are delighted that this event is attracting high profile speakers to contribute to the ceremony like Santa J. Ono the 15th President & Vice- Chancellor of University British Columbia, Ms. Isobel MacKenzie Seniors Advocate of BC. and many more.

Event Details:

The walkathon portion will be from October 19th-23rd. Participants can choose one day out of the week to walk. Our recommended walking distance is 5km - 10km. On October 24th, we will have an online celebration from 1pm to 2:30pm. Incredible and handpicked speakers have been invited to educate, share inspiring stories of struggles and successes to offer hope amidst the pain people have experienced with social isolation.
