Event description
A Tree Workshop for anyone interested in learning about the value of our native trees. Free native trees for all participants.

About this Event

In our towns, cities and agricultural areas, the planting of native trees needs to gain greater currency.

This is for the insects, the birds and all the other creatures that depend on native trees for sustenance. And ultimately for us as well – for anyone who delights in the beauty of singing birds, the glory of native trees or the spectacular diversity of caterpillars and other insects.

  • trees are foundational to healthy ecosystems
  • they provide food and shelter for numerous animals
  • trees like oaks, maples, hickories, are excellent choices for urban planting
  • they do a much better job than non-natives like Norway Maple, or Little Leaf Linden.
  • humans as well as numerous other living things depend on Native Trees

Participants in the Zoom presentation will be gifted with saplings of native trees that will be available for pick-up at a site in Halton Hills (TBA).

The Halton/North Peel Naturalist Club would like to thank the Halton Hills Community Sustainability Investment Fund for a generous donation towards supporting this workshop and the purchase of trees.
