Event description

Description

Dear Honoured Guest,

The NATO Association of Canada is thrilled to be hosting a special celebration of NATO’s 70th Anniversary onboard HMCS St. John’s as part of the Great Lakes Deployment on Sunday, October 27th 2019.

We would be honoured to invite you to join this event from 16:00-18:00 and participate in dedicating a plaque onboard the ship. This plaque outlines the NATO operations in which HMCS St. John’s has participated over the years and highlight Canada’s contributions to NATO.

The attendees will include NATO Country Ambassadors, directors of the NATO Association of Canada along with our partners in the cultural, business and technology sectors of Toronto. Our goal is to help explain to this audience the value of Canada’s contribution to NATO.

The NATO Association of Canada is a charitable NGO dedicated to educating Canadians about the value of NATO (www.natoassociation.ca). We host approximately 20 events every year across Canada and publish articles about NATO and Canada’s international engagement.

It would be a pleasure to be able to have you as part of this event.

Sincerely,

Robert Baines, CD, MA

President & CEO

P.s.: [a short note from the Department of National Defence]: This event was organized, in part, to help promote awareness of how the Royal Canadian Navy serves Canada's interests at home and abroad with members of the Canadian publlic.

We would like to gain a better idea of how this event impacted Navy knowledge amongst attendees.

Thus, we ask that you take ninety seconds durig the registration process to answer five TRUE | FALSE questions about the Royal Canadian Navy. In this case, the questions relate specifically to the HMCS St John's.

Individual answers to these questions will be compiled to establish an anonymous pre-event group average understanding score.

We will release a post-event survey to all attendees who checked in, featuring identical questions. We will compile individual scores to establish an anonymous post-event group average.

The two anonymous group average understanding scores will be compared. The difference between the pre- and post-event group scores will form the foundation of our first quantitative event-related understanding impact score.

Over time, event understanding impact scores will be integrated into event planning procedures.
