Event Details

Nature as a Classroom is a two-day educator workshop for teachers of Grades 4 to 6 in the GTA. It will reinvigorate educators by helping them explore their own profound connections to nature, then empower them with strategies and ideas to inspire their students with that passion.

Presented by the David Suzuki Foundation, the workshop will also draw upon the knowledge and passion of experienced local outdoor educators from the Peel District School Board and The Pine Project.

Over the course of the workshop — much of it outdoors— participants will gain confidence in taking classes outside and weaving nature education into all aspects of teaching. They’ll also learn about great local resources and gain a network of like-minded educators. All this while having lots of fun.

The first 12 teachers from the GTA will have their release time covered, so register early! We encourage you to register with another teacher or administrator from your school to foster a team approach to outdoor learning. All participants will receive a print copy of Connecting with Nature, the Foundation's educational resource guide for Grades 4 to 6.
