Event description
Nature programs designed for preschool children ages 3 – 5 and their caregivers.

About this Event

Enjoy fun games, crafts, songs and a healthy snack while learning more about the outdoors and discover the animals and plants that call Birds Hill Provincial Park their home.

All programs take place at the Interpretive Workshop, located at the end of Nimowin Road. Younger siblings welcome.

Remember, vehicle permits are required year round in provincial parks.

Sessions - Please register for either a morning session (10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.) or afternoon session (1:30 p.m. - 3 p.m.) for each of the dates below:

  • Quinzhee Building - Wednesday, January 22. Put on your toques and mitts as we play in the snow and build our very own snow shelter. Warm up inside with a snow craft, snack and some hot chocolate.
  • Pukak Animals - Wednesday, February 26. Discover the tiny animals that live under the snow during the winter and how they use the snow to help them survive. Look for their tracks on a guided walk on part of Nimowin Trail.
  • Egg-cited to Hatch - Wednesday, March 25. Investigate the world of living creatures as they hatch out of their shells and what they need to survive. Look for signs of new life as we go for a guided walk on part of Nimowin Trail.
  • Metamorphic Critters - Wednesday, April 29. Discover what happens to creatures after they hatch from an egg and what they turn into. See if you can find any of them as we go for a guided walk on part of Nimowin Trail.
