Reveal Your Path

Facilitated by Joanna Li and Debbie Clyne

Do you know what your core values are? How do you think they will impact your path in life? Knowing your core values is like having a compass that guides you towards your North Star, revealing the path that you are meant to take. During this workshop, we will work together to identify your values through a variety of independent and interactive activities. You will create commitments that will put you on the path towards your biggest, most authentic vision for yourself.

karina hayat

Panelist: Karina Hayat

Karina Hayat and her family arrived in Vancouver from Guatemala as political refugees in 1991 with nothing more than two carry-on bags and a sheer determination to succeed.

As a challenge-driven entrepreneur, Karina’s motivation comes from her commitment to making a difference in her community. She co-founded Prizm Media, a healthcare lead generation and digital media agency, at the age of 21 and has driven the bootstrapped company to success, ranking in Canada’s PROFIT500, Ready to Rocket, and Deloitte 500. As the co-founder of RxtoMe, she aims to simplify the pharmacy experience by providing on-demand pharmacy services to people with chronic conditions and those caring for them. Through, she aims to serve the underemployed and invisibly homeless with Kare Packages that can make a lasting difference in their lives. Through starting 1000 Meals a Week, an initiative that feeds the homeless in Vancouver’s DTES, which has since expanded into Vancouver Outreach, she and her team helped serve over 1000 people weekly. She volunteers with Junior Achievement, BC Muslim Association and Islam Unravelled to fulfill her passions for providing opportunities for interfaith dialogue, youth mentorship, and female empowerment.

Karina has been listed in Chatelaine’s W100 list of Canada’s 100 Top Female Entrepreneurs, is a Business in Vancouver’s Top 40 Under Forty Recipient, and is a Finalist in Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Julia Hanlon

Panelist: Julia Hanlon

Julia Hanlon
’s obsession with beer started with a post university backpacking trip to Europe. After experiencing the reverence and appreciation for beer in countries like Belgium, Germany, and the Czech Republic, she was instantly hooked.

Unlike many craft brewers, Julia got her start in brewing with a large brewing company—Molson. After learning many valuable lessons during her two-year apprenticeship, she made the leap to craft beer and took on the role of brewmaster at Steamworks in 2015. Her technical training combined with love of her job and dedication to quality, creativity, and collaboration has allowed her to flourish in the role.

Julia and her talented brewing team have won many international, national, and provincial brewing awards, highlighted by tandem 2016 BC Beer Awards: “Best IPA” and “Best in Show” for Steamworks Flagship IPA.

When she’s not brewing, Julia loves spending time with her husband and two daughters and not surprisingly, cooking for friends and family, a pasttime which has many parallels to the art and science of brewing.
