Join us for this first step towards becoming a Leader with Hidden Harvest Ottawa!

About this event

You are invited to participate in our upcoming Neighbourhood Leader Training Introduction! We are so excited that you are interested in training to take on this leadership role rescuing fruit that would otherwise go to waste.

What does it mean to be a Neighbourhood Leader? Neighbourhood Leaders arrange harvest events, enabling other keen volunteers to join them to pick fruit and share it! Right now we have extra trees, volunteers, and equipment - we just need more leaders.

We are looking for people who are reliable, fun, and committed to building community and sharing local food with their neighbours. Knowledge of local fruit and fruit trees would be a bonus but is not necessary.

Camille and Brian, experienced harvest leaders, will review what Hidden Harvest does, who we are, how we operate, and what the Neighbourhood Leader role involves.

Whether you are interested in learning more, or you are certain you want to dive into this role, we would love to see you at the training!

If you can't make this in-person event, but are interested in becoming a Neighbourhood Leader, you can get started through our online training introduction. The online module reviews the same content as the in-person session and is available to everyone for free online, anytime, here: It's also ok if you've previously done the online training but would like to attend this session to review content or hear it again!

To Note:

  • No refreshments will be provided. BYO snack or beverage, if needed.
  • Masks and hand hygiene are encouraged but not required. Ottawa Public Health guidelines will be followed during this outside event. We may walk and talk, or sit on the grass or at picnic tables during the training.
  • Pre-registration is required and the event is first-come first-served: if the event is full, please consider signing up for one of our other training events this season.
  • If there is light rain, the event will continue. (Bring an umbrella if it looks like rain!) In the event of lightening, the event will be cancelled and the organizer will aim to reschedule at a later time.

Pick, share, and take good care,

Alaina, Volunteer Manager
