Event description

Description

Join me in collaboration with The Welders for a New Moon Period Circle. How often do we shy away from talking about periods? It's the social norm to hold back on talking about our experiences, the joyous moments, the scary moments, the embarrassing moments and the beautiful moments.

Let's come together to contribute towards reducing the societal stigma surrounding menstruation. No matter where you are in the realm of menstruation, during this circle, we will create an open dialogue around this topic while being in community with other women.

This circle will focus on the theme of menstruation while also discussing the May New Moon's energies and how it may have an impact on us energetically.

Please bring a journal, something to write with, anything you need to feel cozy and an open heart.

We will also be accepting period product donations which will go towards the DC Diaper Bank. Bring your products to the circle and we'll handle everything!

Space is limited, please reserve your spot ahead of time.

Doors open @ 4:00 pm
Program promptly begins @ 4 :30pm

Program closes @ 6 :00pm

These circles are open to all who identify as women. This circle is open to ALL women regardless if they get their period or not.

About the Welders: The Welders is a DC playwrights' collective that puts the playwright at the center of art-making and community creation. We're seven playwrights who support each other along with a creative producer. Each of us takes a turn as Lead Producing Playwright to have a play produced before we pass the whole organization, from board to bank account, on to the next generation -- which we'll be doing in 2020! Rachel is our current Lead Producing Playwright.

About Lady M: LadyM pits the poetic and absurdist lives of the modern, menstruating woman against the themes, characters, and language in Shakespeare’s Macbeth to explore female blood, ambition, sorcery as power, and violence. Delving into the deep, dark, and bloody traditions of women’s stigmatized bodies, we push these difficult issues through the lens of grotesque comedy in this highly stylized, absurdist, and radical feminist bloodbath.
