New Societies Act - Online Transition
Wed, 26 October 2016, 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM PDT
Debbie Turner, Deputy Registrar at BC Registries and Online Services, together with Jill Sinkwich, Director at the Ministry of Finance who helped develop the legislation, will deliver a presentation on getting ready for the New Societies Act and a hold a Q+A session on the changes to the Act and the new 'Societies Online' application.
The Societies Act is new legislation that was passed in spring 2015 and will come into effect on November 28, 2016. It governs how societies (not-for-profit corporations) are created and run in B.C. and includes significant updates to allow for more flexibility in how societies operate, while still protecting the public interest. The new Societies Act brings an opportunity to file online and BC Registries and Online Services is in the process of finalizing the build of a new online application, 'Societies Online', to support and enhance society filing requirements.
The presentation will give you first hand glimpses of the new application and allow you to ask any questions about the legislation or the new application to the subject matter experts on this topic.
