YNJP together with Malton Women Council are sharing the story of how newcomer women in Malton, Peel cultivated a network and supported each other to reach success and strengthen their community.
This is an opportunity to connect YNJP youth newcomers who identify as women with local organizations that can further their development as professionals and involvement in serving their community.
Featuring guest speakers who will share their lived experiences:

- Uzma Aziz Irfan: Executive Director of Malton Women Council
YNJP and Malton Women Council will cover the resources and support available to newcomers and women in Peel region, followed by a panel discussion about ‘empowered women, empowered communities’.
Founded in 2009, Malton Women Council (MWC) is a registered non-profit organization based in Malton Community of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.
MWC’s mandate is to mentor, motivate and mobilize women in the community, with the vision of ‘Empowered Women, Empowered Communities’.
MWC works to increase women's economic security and prosperity, encourage women's leadership and democratic participation and to end gender-based violence and discrimination.
Over the course of the last 13 years, MWC has provided opportunities, resources and a strong platform for women to thrive and excel. Mobilizing their skills and experiences in various capacities and helping them express their talents and abilities to see themselves as leaders.
Immigrating to a new country takes courage and determination. The Youth Newcomer Jobs Portal empowers newcomer youth to define their future here in Canada, helping them fulfill their hopes and dreams, and aspire for more with greater confidence.
YNJP is a trusted digital launching pad to support newcomer youth with job search strategies, connections to employers who are hiring and through connected communities like Youth Boost they will have access to resume targeting, interview preparation, career planning and more.
In addition to career opportunities, the Youth Newcomer Jobs Portal provides resources to help newcomers transition into their new life in Canada.
The Youth Newcomer Jobs Portal is supported by the Sikh community and is powered by Magnet. This platform is open to all youth newcomers in the Peel region of the Greater Toronto Area and beyond.
