Description
The Toronto Youth Cabinet (TYC) Newcomer Working Group, in partnership with the City of Toronto's Youth Development Unit, Toronto Strong Neighbourhood, Confronting Anti-Black Racism Units, and Newcomer Office is facilitating a participatory workshop on community-based decision making for newcomer youth. The participatory session shares the experiences of newcomer youth and identifies available community supports to address common challenges in areas such as civic engagement, community resources, and education. The event finishes with a facilitated discussion on what the City can do more to support newcomer youth.
The Newcomer Working Group operates as part of the Toronto Youth Cabinet, a youth-led advocacy group that promotes civic engagement and participation for youth, and is the official youth advisory body for the city of Toronto. The Newcomer Working Group is dedicated to developing initiatives that will ensure the integration, civic engagement, and overall success of newcomer youth in the city of Toronto, including refugee youth, undocumented youth, and international students.
