Description

Join us to learn about cutting-edge immigration and settlement research. “Newcomers, Resilience and Settlement: Knowledge Exchange” will showcase settlement practices that promote newcomers’ resilience in Quebec and Ontario cities from the perspectives of policy makers, researchers and community leaders.

Panel 1: What did we learn from settling Syrian refugees?

This panel will compare the experiences of privately-sponsored and government-assisted refugees with the goal of identifying best practices for settling all refugees successfully in Canadian cities.

Panel 2: Local Immigration Partnerships (LIPS) for planning immigrant integration: Reality vs. aspirations

This panel will compare approaches to settlement in Ontario and Quebec by assessing the roles of local immigration partnerships in Ontario cities and those of local governments and service-providers in Montréal, Quebec.

Panel 3 title: Sanctuary cities: what are they good for?

This panel will share research findings about sanctuary cities in Canada

This event is free but seats are limited. RSVP now.
