Down-and-out private detective Harry Angel is ordered by the mysterious Mr. Cyphre to go on a mission to find a missing person. His routine failure soon leads to a bloody spar with himself, as he goes on a supernatural journey into his own soul.
A true detective mystery set in the '50s is a perfect playground for the unwashed handsomeness of Mickey Rourke, at the height of his powers and in a battle of wits with the gleefully wicked Robert DeNiro. Writer/Director Alan Parker (MIDNIGHT EXPRESS, PINK FLOYD: THE WALL) pours on the stylistic excess, saturating the screen in sweat and blood. Highly controversial at the time of release due to the unbridled sexuality of Lisa Bonet, who was known only as Denise on TV's number one family, The Huxtables.
