Waldie & Sharon Neufeld - Waldie (PRBI President) & Sharon (Counselor/Speaker/Consultant) share a passion to help couples/families build healthy Christ-centred marriages and families. They live out and teach a relational theology which represents the heart of God and invite others to healthier relationships based on truth and identity in Christ. PRBI stands for the Peace River Bible Institute and is located in Sexsmith, Alberta, just 20 kms north of Grande Prairie.
We are in our 44th year of marriage, having experienced a journey of life’s ups and downs together. We have found our God faithful throughout it all. Most of our four children and thirteen grand-children live in the Grande Prairie area with one set living in the Calgary area. Our oldest child just turned 40 and our youngest is 32. We experienced losses (a house fire and divorces in our family), major moves (from Sask. to N.C. and Texas to Sexsmith), a long educational journey (Waldie went to Briercrest, Dallas Seminary, and Gonzaga; Sharon led Hope for the Heart, a Dallas radio ministry, which was an education in itself), and then a long working career at PRBI (26 years). Each has given us opportunities to grow in our relationship with God and with each other.
Our major theme is that “marriage is meant to be transformational,” since marriage is meant to emulate Jesus and impact others. Our sessions will focus on the following: Created to be Relational – we take a look at our view of God, ourselves, and our view of relationships (Gen 1-2; The Effects of the Curse on Relationships – we take a look at our self-centeredness, since it will be the biggest hindrance to moving forward (Gen 3); Identifying what Controls our Relationships – we will take a look at how our worldviews shape and impact our relationships; and last, Reflecting God in our Relationships – we will take a look at Ephesians four and God’s acceptance of us and how this can be lived out in our marriages.
