Northern Bites September "Field Trip" Experience
Event Information
Description
Hints of Fall are in the air!
Our evenings are getting cooler, back to school is around the corner, the trees will soon be changing colours, and farmers will be harvesting their crops and prepping their fields for winter.
Can't you just smell the bountiful apples being baked in pies, sauces and loaves? Simmering in cinnamon and sugar? Makes us almost forget that summer is just about over... almost.
Are you ready for a last summer hurrah?
A wonderful Experience is being planned for September. One that will let you discover an Alberta hidden gem and beautiful area of the Capital Region. Jacquie Fenske and Monique MacDonald have a unique Northern Bites adventure planned for Tuesday, September 4th, 2018. We have a few more culinary treasures to share with you.
Why should school kids have all the fun?
For our second 2018 "Experience" you will get to enjoy a good old fashioned field trip to an orchard where you will get to pick your own juicy and ripe apples for pie baking and find out about how apples are harvested in Alberta. We will then ride back with our edible treasures to Fifendekel where you will each get to make and take home to bake your very own delicious homemade apple pie using their famous pie shells. (You will also get the opportunity to purchase more apples at your own cost to take home if you wish).
During that time, local food businesses (Who? It's always a surprise) will talk about their experience in the agri/culinary industry and let you sample some of their products.
As this is a special fundraiser and we are still in our "ironing out the kinks" period, this Experience's ticket is set at a once in a lifetime price of $20 per person. Proceeds will go to a charity that is close to our hearts, the Cross Cancer 50th Anniversary "Show the Love" campaign. It will never be priced this low again!
Please Note: A Fifendekel famous bagged sandwich lunch will be provided for you to enjoy on the bus ride to the farm.
Remember to dress for the weather and for fruit picking!
