The Baffin Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Kivalliq Chamber of Commerce and Nunavut Arts and Crafts Association are pleased to announce that we will be doing a joint venture for 2017 Northern Perspectives. The event will be held at the Winnipeg Art Gallery from February 1st to February 4th, 2017.
2017 Northern Perspectives will be a business and cultural showcase of Nunavut with focus on expanding the economic opportunities within Nunavut and partnership opportunities with businesses from Manitoba. As you know the Kivalliq region has already strong business ties to Manitoba and the arts sector is gaining strength with its relationship to the Winnipeg Art Gallery and the Wag at the Forks where numerous Nunavut Artist work is featured.
The BRCC believes that Northern Perspectives has the potential to have a great impact on many different sectors especially the cultural industries of Nunavut down to the community level. We believe that the format for the event which will consist of an arts component and conference sessions will help strengthen the relationship and understanding of doing business in the North and more specifically Nunavut’s Kivalliq and Qikiqtani regions. The success of this project can be measured through tangibles such as the level of sales, the number of contacts made and the amount of people that attend the trade show component and the conference sessions.
The conference session component will focus on what is happening in Nunavut and explore opportunities that are available while looking at ways to strengthen economic ties and build partnerships that can help assist Nunavut and Nunavut businesses reach their true potential. We feel that the Qikiqtani Region can build on the successes already in place with many businesses from the Kivalliq. We will also focus on lessons learned from various projects in Manitoba in hopes to extend the same success for Nunavut’s economy.
