Event Details


The 2019 NorthSec (NSec) edition will take place:

  • May 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th for the Training Sessions
  • May 16th, 17th for the Conference
  • May 17th, 18th, 19th for the Competition (CTF)


This 2019 edition will have 2 main locations!

Montreal Science Centre AND Montreal Bonsecours Market depending on what event of the week you attend : 

  • Workshop and Conference : Montreal Science Centre
  • Competition (CTF) : Bonsecours Market

IMPORTANT : The trainings will take place as usual at the Holiday Inn, 99, Viger Street West


1) Does the ticket price include taxes ?

The listed price does not include GST/QST and eventbrite fees but they will be automatically calculated at checkout. Tax numbers are displayed in the ticket description.

2) Is there an early bird discount ?

Yes. Here are the details:

Trainings (available!) : 

  • Early bird #1 (20% off) - Until December 31st or sold out
  • Early bird #2 (10% off) - Until February 28th or sold out
  • Full price: 3000$ (3 days) OR 2000$ (2 days)

Early Bird  training tickets will be limited to 5 tickets for each Early Bird 1 prices and 5 tickets for Early Bird 2 prices.

Early Bird pricing tickets will be limited to 100 tickets for Early Bird 1 and 150 tickets for Early Bird 2.

4) Students Discount for FULL TIME students only.

We are making great efforts to make the event accessible to all student. We are offering a 50% off of the full final price (not the Early Bird price) on conference and competition registrations.

To get the discount, DO NOT purchase your ticket before having the discount code. Simply email us at with your student emails address to receive a discount code to make the purchase using the code. If you register as a student, a valid student id card and proof of current full-time attendance will be requested to retrieve your badge.

Early Bird rebate does NOT stack on top of Student discount.

5) What can/can't I bring to the event?

You can bring whatever you need. Make yourself confortable. We encourage you to bring decorations (gear, fun stuff, your preferred teddy bear) for the competition, as long as it is within the code of conduct.

7) Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

8) Can I upgrade my ticket to include the Conference and/or Trainings at a later date?

Yes but we will charge you the price difference from the upgrade at the date it is requested, not at the time you originally purchased your ticket. To get a ticket upgrade, you have to write us at

10) Competition Teams

When you register for the competition, you will by asked to register a team. Once registered, you will be able to send invitations to your team members so they can join your team. If you want to, you can make your team public so other people can join it. 

Any team of less than 8 people will receive a notice 1-2 weeks before the event about team merging. We will automatically merge people in your team to make's sure every team has 8 participants.

11) Individual participant

Don't worry, we will find a team for each individual participants.

12) Why are we asking for your age?

There will be a bar service during the event and the organisation will ensure that no participant under 18 will be able to drink alcohol on site.

13) What are the talks for this year? 

Conference talks will be announced later.

14) What are the training sessions for this year?

15) Do I need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) or a visitor visa ?

Starting March 15, 2017, visa-exempt foreign nationals who fly to or transit through Canada will need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). Exceptions include U.S. citizens and foreign nationals with a valid visa. For more information, visit

16) Will you be sharing my information with sponsors and/or vendors?

No. We do not share any personal information with anyone outside the organization and access to this information is limited to our executive board on a "need-to-know" basis. We do ask for generic information about your job type in order to build global statistics about the event. We do abide by the Canadian and Quebec privacy acts.
