ABOUT THE PERFORMERS
Born in Pontarlier (France), JEAN-SAMUEL BEZ started playing the violin thanks to Krystina Mugica. Attracted early by chamber music, he soon became a regular on the local scenes and played in various festivals such as Les Nuits de Joux, Les Ariolicales and Automne musical en Val de Saône. Sensitive to the importance of creating and spreading the contemporary repertoire, Jean-Samuel intensely works with composers. In 2015, he was also the laureate of the Young Bozar Project within the Alternative Violin Duet 2Väinö. With this duet, he focuses on developing new alternatives to traditional concerts, mixing art forms and means of expression.

Jean-Samuel was unanimously awarded a First Prize at the Conservatory of Dijon and First Prizes of Excellence and Virtuosity at the Conservatory of Music of Rueil-Malmaison. Later, he entered the Brussels Royal Conservatory of Music (Belgium) in the studio of Veronique Bogaerts, where he received his degrees with high distinction and was granted the Pappaerts Prize in 2016 as a reward for an exceptional academic path. Currently, he is a postgraduate student at the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Vienna (Austria) in the class of Michael Frischenschlager.

Originally from Repentigny, Quebec, Canadian pianist JEAN-LUC THERRIEN has been actively performing in Canada and abroad. He has stood out in many competitions such as the Luigi Zanuccoli International Music Competition (1st prize), the Mauro Paolo Monopoli Prize International Piano Competition, (3rd prize and audience prize) and the Canadian Music Competition’s Stepping Stone (3rd prize). He was also awarded several prizes including the Gilles-Gauthier Excellence Award, the Wilfrid-Pelletier Excellence Award and the Governor General of Canada’s Academic medal.

A graduate of the Trois-Rivières Music Conservatory, JEAN-LUC received his Master’s degree in Piano Performance from the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. His principal professors have included Denise Trudel, Cordelia Höfer-Teutsch and George Kern. Since September 2017, he has been in the ACP Program (Advanced Certificate in Performance) at the University of Toronto, where he studies with Marietta Orlov on a full-tuition scholarship.
