Nova Scotia's Action Plan for an Aging Population - Join the Conversation
Our population is aging. Here’s what the numbers tell us:
- There are about 180,000 people aged 65 or older in Nova Scotia today
- By the year 2030 there will be almost 255,000 people aged 65 or older
That’s a big demographic shift, with the rise of the 65+ population from about 19 per cent today to nearly 30 per cent by 2040.
The Action Plan and how YOU can help
Let’s talk about the value of older Nova Scotians in our communities and the positive side of an aging population. Government wants your ideas to create a plan for the future.
In addition to 7 in person sessions taking place across Nova Scotia, there are sessions being organized for specific groups whose voice may not be well represented at the general public sessions. On June 24th, we are pleased to be holding a Community Conversation with individuals of the LGBTIQ+ community.
