Global Medicine Journal Club

  • 6pm - 8pm. Light dinner will be available.
  • 6th Floor Boardroom, 500 University Avenue (W. side of University just N. of Dundas)
  • GHEI participants will receive credit for session

"Outcomes in adults and children with end-stage kidney disease
requiring dialysis in sub-Saharan Africa: a systematic review”

Clinician Scientist and Professor of Medicine and Paediatrics, University of Toronto, Sickkids and University Health Network; Program Director, Paediatric Nephrology and Adult Nephrology;
Interim Director of the Transplant and Regenerative Medicine Centre

Objectives:
  • Overview the epidemiology and outcomes of end-stage renal disease in sub-Saharan Africa
  • Discuss the barriers to optimal treatment and the feasibility of prevention strategies of end-stage renal disease in low and middle income countries
  • Discuss potential collaborative efforts to mitigate this problem

The Global Medicine Journal Club is led by PGME Global Health Education Initiative and University of Toronto Department of Medicine.

This club aims to engage current and graduate GHEI participants with the PGME global health community in discussion of medical global issues and provide a supportive environment for all.
