About this event
Leah den Bok, is a 22-year-old photographer who grew up in Collingwood, Ont. She has walked the streets, in many cities and towns, capturing the lives of the homeless with her impactful photos.
She wishes to shine a spotlight on the plight of homelessness, and to humanize people experiencing homelessness. Her stunning images are featured in her four volumes Nowhere to Call Home — Photographs and Stories of People Experiencing Homeless.
She was inspired by her mother’s story. Her mom, Sara den Bok, was homeless herself.
Sara was found on the streets of Kolkata, India when she was only three years old, and was brought to Mother Teresa's orphanage. She was adopted by a Canadian family.
At this event Sara will be coming to the Richmond Hill United Church to tell her story and bring Leah’s book series, Nowhere To Call Home and prints from her project.
Leah will join, via Zoom, from Spain, where she is currently pursuing her photography career.
Please see Leah's website for her project, www.humanizingthehomeless.org
Ticket price - $15. (plus $1.29 Eventbrite handling fee) A ticket allows you to attend in-person or on line. (A Zoom Webinar link will be sent one hour before the event).
Proceeds from this event will be given to the Social Justice Programs at the Richmond Hill United Church.
