Nursing Networking Cafés, hosted by Trinity Western University School of Nursing, are a gathering place for nurses to discuss topics of interest in a collegial environment.
You are invited to our December Nursing Network Cafe:
Negotiated Practice: An anthropologist’s perspective of hospital palliative care
The majority of Canadians spend their last days, and die, in a hospital. Increasingly these patients have some interaction with palliative specialists, or at minimum clinicians who use the principles of a palliative approach. Examining palliative care as a “culture”–a set of complex social practices–can help us to better understand how clinicians shape and collectively negotiate the experiences of dying, as well as the challenges they face within these institutional settings. Based on 10 years of experience, the conversation will be grounded in examples from local and international research.
We hope you can join us!
