Speaker Bio's

Ted Michaels

Ted Michaels is a broadcaster, writer and spokesperson for physical and mental wellness. He is a three-time award winner for mental health initiatives. He is currently a news anchor for CHML radio.

Ted has worked with individuals, groups and companies, focusing on how to establish and then maintain good media relations.

Wayne Berger

Jeff Hopkins

Jeff is a partner with Grosman, Grosman & Gale LLP, providing strategic advice and expertise in all aspects of labour, employment and human resources law, with a particular focus on wrongful dismissal litigation.

Jeff has provided representation and trial advocacy on complex matters before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Ontario Court of Appeal, Divisional Court, arbitrations, and various administrative tribunals, including the Ontario Labour Relations Board, Employment Standards and Human Rights Tribunal. Jeff is also routinely retained to represent clients on injunctive relief motions, primarily on the issue of restrictive covenants and employee fiduciary duties.

He develops and implements employment and workplace policies, counsels and advises human resource professionals, executives, managers and supervisors in workplace due diligence, positive employee relations and best practices. Jeff also drafts and advises on executive contracts related to duties and responsibilities, compensation, benefits and other conditions of employment.

Martin Chung

Martin Chung is Assistant Vice-President of Strategic Health Management at Equitable Life of Canada.

His journey includes being a pharmacist as both a clinician and pharmacy business management, leading private payer strategies at Pfizer Canada, and vice-president of group benefits at Aon-Hewitt Consulting.

He is a published workplace health researcher and contributes regularly to healthcare industry publications and conferences. He continues to actively practice as a pharmacist.

Martin’s key areas of passion and focus include executing actionable insights in order to bridge business and health solutions.

Monica Gibbs

Monica Gibbs is a Director, Recruitment Services with Everest Management Network Inc., a professional search firm in Toronto. She has been with the firm since graduating from York University in 1997. In addition to managing a team of recruitment professionals she is also a member of Everest’s Senior Management Team.

With over 20 years of diverse international recruitment experience Monica has partnered with clients on various searches primarily in the financial services sector. She attained her CHRP in 2002 and is an active member of the Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario (HRPAO) and HRPYR where she has been a Director on the Board for two years.

Monica is also a member of CPBI, IABC, World at Work and the CFA Society. Monica has been asked to speak at various HR events, conferences and corporate seminars, team building events and ‘lunch and learns’. She is passionate about health and wellness and about educating others on personal development, goal setting and finding balance

Peter Straszynski

Peter Straszynski is a Partner in the Employment & Labour group at Torkin Manes LLP. He assists employers with all of their employment law issues, through the hiring to the post-termination stages of employment, in both the union and non-union settings. In either setting,

Peter regularly advises employers on human rights matters and where necessary defends them in proceedings before the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal. Peter is also regularly called upon by the firm’s corporate and insolvency lawyers to deal with the labour and employment law implications inherent in the purchase and sale of a business or in the case of receivership or insolvency.

Mary Ann Dunlop

Mary Ann Dunlop or "MA" leads HR Intell and has 20 years of human resource experience; 10 of them involved her holding senior management positions within the North American technology industry.

She has also previously held both operational and human resource leadership positions within the retail industry notably with HMV North America; as well as work with leaders in the manufacturing and construction industries to develop and scale their organizations.
