O.A.C. Spring Tune-Up!
Date and time
Hello Friends! Our upcoming O.A.C. Spring Tune-Up volunteer event is set for Saturday, May 28, (9am - 12pm).
About this event
You will have the opportunity to join SMWS staff and other volunteers in protecting this conservation area by helping us give it a 'tune-up'! We will be doing some hedge trimming, garbage clean-up, invasive plant removal (Broom is in Bloom!, Blackberries), and fixing our rock pathways.
On Saturday, we will meet you at 9am at the OAC. The OAC can be accessed by car by turning into the parking lot a short distance north from the Beverly Street and Trans Canada Highway Intersection. Look for the long brown fence and kiosk. We will meet you there! We will provide you with work gloves and any tools you need. We recommend bringing sturdy boots, your favorite gardening gloves, a personal water, and dressing for the weather.
The event will be about 3 hours rain or shine, with a mid-way break where we will provide refreshments and snacks. The OAC is a place for learning, relaxation, exercise and wildlife viewing so take a walk along the wheelchair-accessible boardwalk and discover the blooming flowers, nesting birds and natural history while you are here.
Bring your friends and family! We look forward to seeing you out in the field!
