Great Architecture on a Small Planet (2019)

Danish architects are on the forefront developing sustainable architecture for future generations. In this one hour documentary we travel around the world exploring projects and buildings who address the global challenges but at the same time improve our everyday life. Bjarke Ingels from BIG has a masterplan on how to protect Manhattan when the sea rises. In Paris Danish architects SLA will place a green building on top of the most polluted highway where the plants will clean the air, reduce traffic noise and cool down the apartments. The City of Buenos Aires and Gehl Architects has transformed a former slum area and integrated the residents physically and socially with the rest of the city. Can we build without CO2 emission in the future? In Copenhagen recycled materials are used by innovative architect Anders Lendager in a large scale housing project reducing the CO2 footprint by 80%. And in Sweden CF Møller builds ten storey apartment houses using massive wood instead of concrete reducing CO2 emission to zero. All inspiring examples of how we can live and build more sustainable in the future.

The Human Shelter (2018)

Filmed on four continents and in nine countries, The Human Shelter explores the concept of “home.”

Architects are called upon to build society’s greatest structures. We marvel at the museums, performing arts centers and spaces of worship that dot the globe and represent the peculiarities of the world’s many cultures. Yet, at the core of the roles and responsibilities of the architect lies a calling for a far more elemental human need: shelter.
This doesn’t imply that architects are always involved in the creation of all the forms that shelter takes. However, a deep understanding of how people dwell provides an appreciation of the diversity, resilience, alacrity of the human race. The Human Shelter, a documentary about what people value or “need” in their lives, ties into a fundamental quality that any architect would be foolish not to cultivate: the ability to listen and perceive what makes people feel at home.
