Event Information
About this event
Two panels made up of prosecutors, defence counsel and judges from the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice will discuss one of the essential tools required when examining witnesses – the ability to object to and respond to objections during the course of a trial. Our panelists will identify what rules of evidence and caselaw every lawyer must know in order to deal with objections, as well as the strategic decisions behind when and how one should object or respond to an objection. Come and hear from members of the Bench regarding the art of being civil and effective when objecting or responding to an objection.
The panel, moderated by Rosemarie Juginovic, will include Justice Maureen Forestell (SCJ), Justice Breese Davies (SCJ), Justice Susan Chapman (OCJ), Ashley Dresser (defence counsel), Hilary Dudding (defence counsel), Emily Marrocco (crown counsel) and Jill Witkin (crown counsel).
