Description

Looking through a telescope can lead to amazing discoveries; seeing the rings of Saturn or Jupiter’s moons can leave a lasting impression no matter what your age. Join us for a special family event all about observing the night sky. Learn how telescopes work, enjoy live demonstrations, a show in the planetarium star theatre, make some fun astronomy crafts and take a look at the night sky through our telescope (weather permitting).

6:45pm, 7:15pm and 9:00pm – Ground Station Canada Theatre show - “The Colour of Fire: An Astronomer's Tool”
During this live presentation we’ll explore how astronomers use different types of cameras to learn about the stars.

8:00pm – 8:45pm Planetarium Star Theatre show – “Capturing the Wonders of the Night Sky”
Join our astronomer Rachel Wang and local astrophotographers for a special show in the planetarium. Check out these photographers’ amazing images of the night sky and learn how they get these incredible shots. You will leave inspired and armed with a new way to observe and capture the night sky.

6:30 – 9:30pm – Tour the observatory and have a look at the night sky through our telescope (weather permitting).

This event is recommended for ages 10+.

$20 adults (19+)
